I just traded my 955 for a new 4410. I have noticed in the 24 hours I have on it that there is a delay when moving from the forward to reverse pedals and vice versa.
Also I am somewhat disappointed that the 4410 does not seem to have as much power as the 955. It lugs up a hill with it in 4WD and the rear mower deck running, the 955 took it easily. Dealer response: "Oh that's because it is a heavier tractor". Hmm, that doesn't sound right. Also I can't get it to move past 2700 RPM's.
Does anyone have any feedback on either of these issues?

Do you have the ehydro? If so, what position is the load match switch in? As far as the delay in direction change, what position is the motion match switch in? If engage the load match feature it will prevent the engine from lugging down. Try the other motion match switch position......you probably have it in slow engage position. The other position will firm and speed engagement up. I am assuming that your are operating the engine at about 2650 rpm? ....

In addition to Chief's comments, I'd check the manual for the max no load rpm adjustment. The manual may call for adjustment to 2700 rpm and that's why it won't run faster. Loaded max rpm's are usually a bit slower than unloaded.
Load match sounds like a good feature and an engine shouldn't lug when using it. The manual version of load match is backing off the speed pedal.
The dealer is right about one thing. It does take HP to move weight around. Most tractors run out of traction before they run out of power, but it's easy enough to put on enough ballast so the power quits first Then, a person may get less work from the tractor rather than more.
I got curious about how much power moving weight takes so I did some rough calculations. I figure that a tractor going just under 7 mph on a 10% grade would rise about 1 foot a second. Since 1 hp = 550 lbs/second, an extra 550 lbs. on the tractor would take about 1 more hp theoretically but a bit more actually. If that's right, weight is a factor but it doesn't seem like a huge one.

2600 rpm is the max setting for that engine.
Thirty five horsepower should be plenty to kick a 3000# tractor up the hill.
Check those new fangled switch settings as Chief suggested. ....

2600 rpm is the rated speed for this engine because of pto speed requirements but not the max. rpm. When operating the tractor under heavy load, sometime it is required to slightly raise engine rpms to maintain 2600 rpm. That is why is mentioned 2650. Sometimes I have to set engine rpm to 2700 to no load to maintain 2600 with a load. The engine is protected by an internal speed govenor to prevent over reving. ....

I guess the point is that it isn't going to rev up to 3200 like a BX or a 2210.
26-2700 is where this engine normally does its work. ....

Gentlemen,
Thanks for the information. I will check the e-switches this week-end and ascertain if they are in the correct position for the work I am doing. I did have it hauled to the dealer today to change the tires from R4's to turf and told them of the problem. And, that I had an indicator light was flashing three short and one long. They fed me some BS and said the problem is fixed, we shall see. And special thanks to you Chief, I hope I enjoy the 4410 as much as you seem to enjoy yours.
